Mark Woodward
(bass, vocal)
Mark has studied bass and classical recorder, and
also plays guitar, harmonica and accordion. He has
worked in a broad range of musical
styles and performed onstage, and in pit orchestras,
for numerous amateur musical productions and plays.
Mark has also served as musical director on a number
of musicals. He has worked with Man Bites God,
Elysium, The Drowning Hitlers and the Australian
Girl’s Choir.
Elysium was commissioned to
compose an instrumental piece, in collaboration with
a number of world musicians, for the unveiling of
Amnesty International’s mural wall in
1998. Their debut EP was recorded at Woodstock
Studios, and produced by Michael Letho.
Mark has his own home studio and works in sound
production on a regular basis, having recorded and
produced music for TV, theatre and short films.
He is an award-winning essayist and has a number of
short pieces accepted for publication and was a
contributing author to “The Phone Book”, a UK
publishing project producing ultra-short fiction for
distribution to mobile phones. He is also

James Hazelden
(vocals, guitar)
James plays a variety of instruments, including
guitar, cello, piano and accordion. He has written
and/or performed with Man Bites God, The Ang Fang
Quartet, The Drowning Hitlers, Rob McComb (The
Triffids), The Gorskys, Phil Younger and the Brew,
Inverloch, Madeline’s Rescue, the Percy Grainger
Touring Orchestra, The Australian Girl’s Choir and
Kamahl.
He has produced, written and/or appeared on eleven CD
releases, working in all manner of musical styles,
from pop/rock, instrumental, classical, country,
experimental sound-scapes, musical theatre, dance
music, electronic, folk and jazz.
James has written music for numerous films, TV shows,
plays, live shows and the Internet. His music has
been played on the Comedy Channel and the ABC. He
worked as a youth advisor to Sue Nattress, the
director of the Melbourne International Festival from
1999 to 2000.
Recently he has composed songs with actor/comedian
Bob Franklin, and has recorded a yet-to-bereleased
album of instrumental piano pieces.
James is a qualified Speech and Drama teacher, and
teaches communication skills to primary and high
school students.

Chris Tomkins
(drums, vocals)
Besides his drumming and programming work with Man
Bites God, Chris has been writing, performing, and
directing comedy for the last 12 years and has
appeared on stage, film, radio and television in
various roles.
He is the co-creator of Australia's most popular
independent entertainment website, GORSKYS.COMedy,
which receives over 120,000 visitors a month from
around the world and it was a finalist in the "1999
Australian Financial Review/Telstra
Australian Internet Awards".
Besides being an experienced musician,
Chris is an award-winning professional
producer/director. He has produced, directed, written
and edited films, documentaries, TVC’s
and corporates for television, live events, the
internet and business.
He also conceived and produced Man Bites God’s four
video clips, which have appeared on ABC TV’s “Rage”.
Chris co-wrote and animated the short animation
series “The Adventures of Terrence and Spider:
Professional Bouncers” for the 2002 Melbourne Comedy
Festival which was subsequently licenced and shown on
the Comedy Channel.
In 2001 he was named as one of Australia's "Rising
Stars" in The Age’s “e)mag”.
