PEPPERMINT SUPERFROG -
ALBUM AND TOUR

After months of recording, weeks of design and years of bickering, Man Bites God's 3 rd full-length studio album will be unleashed on an unsuspecting world in June. Peppermint Superfrog is Man Bites God's most electric and urgent album to date. It is a collision of punk, electronica, rock and pop to create an album that is fast-moving and fun, with lyrics that are surreal, quick-witted and quickly delivered.

Or at least that's what it says on the press release.

The boys are hitting the road for a national tour to promote the album. Dates will be made available shortly. Stay glued to the website or join the Man Bites God Squad for more details.

SUPERGIG!!

Man Bites God's final Melbourne show for 2006 will be a one night only super-show spectacular the likes of which have never been seen before and will never be seen again. Not that we wanna over-hype it or anything. But it's gonna be huge. It'll be at the Spanish Club on Friday 24th November.

Man Bites God will be joined by special guests the Drowning Hitlers and The Gorskys. The Drowning Hitlers is the band that spawned Man Bites God. Think MBG but louder, with a full drum-kit, horns and about 7 other members. Whilst James was the founding member, both Chris and Mark have performed in The Drowning Hitlers in the past, and will on the night. The Gorskys is Chris' nerdy musical duo. Think Man Bites Godl, but quieter, folkier and less cranky. It will be The Gorskys first live gig in 7 years. it will be The Drowning Hitlers first live show in 6 years. It will be an un-missable night of fun and music.

Get your tickets early by booking online. Head to the GIGS page for more details and links.

WIN AT ALL COSTS

Man Bites God have released the third single off their cool new CD “The Popular Alternative”. “Win At All Costs” is a Commonwealth Games Anti-Anthem. In fact it is an Anti-Anthem for all sports and for the people who slobber over them.

This will be a radio-only single so if bug your favourite radio station with a “Win At All Costs” request. Or buy a copy of “The Popular Alternative”. Or do neither of those things. It’s a semi-free world.

VIDEO CLIPPED

Man Bites God’s “The Annoying Song” filmclip missed out on an award at the recent Faster Louder Sunscreen Video Awards. However it was a pleasure to be nominated and all the artists involved produced some very cool work.

MBG would like to say thanks for all the people who voted for their clip. The amazing amount of support for the band was greatly appreciated.

[Mon. 9th January, 2006]

DRY SPIRITS

During the holidays, an angel visited Man Bites God and showed them what life would have been like if they’d never existed. It was pretty much the same, except there was a tangible amount of “less rock” in the world. This was enough to convince the boys not to throw James off the bridge, and keep making music for another 100 years at least.

[Mon. 9th January, 2006]

DREAM ON

Man Bites God have written the soundtrack to a new Channel 31 TV show called Dream On. The show, produced by MBG’s former manager Rachel Barnes, is all about dreams, what they mean and the history and mythology of dreaming.

Besides writing the show’s theme song, MBG contribute a short song every week dealing with a certain area of dreams and dreaming. The segments have been recorded with the boys playing live to camera in the back yard of MBG HQ.

The half-hour show is on Channel 31 every Monday at 9pm starting January 16th. There will be seven episodes. The episodes will be repeated on the following Saturdays at 8am.

[Sat. 10th December, 2005]

MBG + QMF = AOK

Man Bites God played two rocking sets for the beautiful people of Queenscliff as part of the recent Queenscliff Music Festival. Sunny days, big friendly crowds and dancing children made the sets great fun for the audience and band alike.

Man Bites God were also very flattered to be voted the sound crew’s favourite band of the Wharf Stage. Although the award was entirely unofficial, it didn’t stop the boys from attempting to run a victory lap of Queenscliff before becoming so tired they had to have a lie down.

ALBUM LAUNCH - SOUND AND VISION

Man Bites God’s recent CD launch for their new album “The Popular Alternative” was a fantastic success, with lots of friends and fans coming down to Melbourne’s Corner Hotel to rock out wit the boys. Thanks must go to the support acts Jane vs World, Nicholas Roy and special guest, Deborah Conway, as well as the fantastic sound and lighting crew.

The whole show photographed and recorded on DV. Also, SYN FM made an audio recording of the entire set for broadcast, so sound and vision from this great show will be made available online soon. Man Bites God recently caused a stir (and a little controversy) by achieving the number 1 and 2 song positions on SYN FM’s listener request Top 10 chart on the same day, with the tracks Cubby House and Bride of the Dragon, from their new album.

Tailors have told Man Bites God that if they bring in that last sentence it can be shortened for them by Thursday.

FRIDAY NIGHTS WERE ALRIGHT

Man Bites God's Friday night residency at Plan B was hugely successful, with lots of friends and fans packing out the intimate Lygon St bar and the boys playing loads of songs from their extensive back catalogue.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end but the boys hope to be back there again, before too long. Until then, there are plenty of other shows being booked so keep your eyes on the GIG section.

[Saturday 4th May, 2005]

THE POPULAR ALTERNATIVE IS COMING

Man Bites God have finished tracking their new studio album, "The Popular Alternative". Less produced and Beatles-esque than their last effort, the album has a much more organic feel. Lyrically, the songs are angrier and more satirical than their 2003 self-titled LP.

Overall, it sounds like the boys have come and set up in your loungeroom, while you curl up on the couch with a steaming mug of drain cleaner.

The album features an impressive list of Australian and international guests, and promises to be the band's best release yet. Watch the DISCOGRAPHY section for release dates.

[Saturday 4th May, 2005]

A PLEASURE JUST TO BE NOMINATED

Man Bites God’s video for the Annoying Song was nominated for “Best Independent Music Video” by the prestigious Belowground Music Video Festival, and the boys flew up to Sydney’s Fox studios to attend the awards night.

The video, directed by MBG drummer Chris Tomkins, was up against clips from Eskimo Joe, Regurgitator and The Drugs and while the clip didn’t win, it certainly garnered plenty of attention from the fans and industry types who were there.

[Sunday 1st May, 2005]

IN THE NICKO TIME

UK comedian, songstress and heartbreaker Nicko has lent her considerable vocal talents to a brand new track for Man Bites God’s new album, “The Popular Alternative”. The song was written during a dinner and recorded into a mobile phone the day before Nicko was due in the studio to record. The song turned out great, and continues the international theme of the album.

TSUNAMI RESERVE

When Man Bites God were approached to play a Tsunami appeal they initially declined, questioning the need to raise money for another Tsunami when the last one had caused so much death and damage. But when the organizers from Care Australia slowly explained the actual premise, MBG were only too happy to donate their time.

The night, held at Ruby’s in Belgrave, was a huge night, with an eclectic lineup and a big crowd generously giving their time and money. The night raised about $1000 and Man Bites God would like to thank the organizers, acts and punters for such a great evening.

[Sunday 5th Dec, 2004]

PUTTING THE FUN BACK INTO FUNERAL

During a recent Man Bites God pool-side afternoon gig in hot and sunny Echuca, the event organizers received a phone-call of complaint from the church next door.

It seems that Man Bites God's original brand of satirical, and often blasphemous, rock was disrupting a funeral service next door. As the church called to complain, MBG was playing The Pope Song.

The MBG boys didn't hear about the complaint till
after the gig, and hope the bereaved friends and
family weren't too offended. "I'd want the Pope Song played at my funeral", said James. "And at the Pope's obviously". The Pope was unavailable to comment. Well, he commented but no-one understood what the fuck he was saying.

[Sunday 5th Dec, 2004]

There will also be a few surprise new tracks, some of which will be performed at the upcoming Empress and Corner Hotel shows.

AUSTRALIA GETS ANGRY

Man Bites God's new Anger Management game has captured the hearts, minds and trigger fingers of a disillusioned nation, with an overwhelming response to the chance to destroy the evil Prime Minister John Howard.

The game has been forwarded to disgruntled Aussies all over the world, uniting them in a common spirit and making everyone entirely more gruntled.

Since its release, this site has clocked up over one million hits and, in light of the recent US election result, Man Bites God will soon be releasing an 'international' version.

To play the game (and send it to friends, family , and refugees currently detained in appalling conditions) visit the GAMES section.
