PEPPERMINT SUPERFROG -
ALBUM AND TOUR |
After months of recording, weeks of design
and years of bickering, Man Bites God's
3 rd full-length studio album will be unleashed
on an unsuspecting world in June. Peppermint
Superfrog is Man Bites God's most electric
and urgent album to date. It is a collision
of punk, electronica, rock and pop to create
an album that is fast-moving and fun, with
lyrics that are surreal, quick-witted and
quickly delivered.
Or at least that's what it says on the
press release.
The boys are hitting the road for a national
tour to promote the album. Dates will be
made available shortly. Stay glued to the
website or join the Man Bites God Squad
for more details.

SUPERGIG!! |
Man Bites God's final Melbourne show for
2006 will be a one night only super-show
spectacular the likes of which have never
been seen before and will never be seen
again. Not that we wanna over-hype it or
anything. But it's gonna be huge. It'll
be at the Spanish Club on Friday
24th November.
Man Bites God will be joined by special
guests the Drowning Hitlers and The
Gorskys. The Drowning Hitlers
is the band that spawned Man Bites God.
Think MBG but louder, with a full drum-kit,
horns and about 7 other members. Whilst
James was the founding member, both Chris
and Mark have performed in The Drowning
Hitlers in the past, and will on the night.
The Gorskys is Chris' nerdy musical duo.
Think Man Bites Godl, but quieter, folkier
and less cranky. It will be The Gorskys
first live gig in 7 years. it will be The
Drowning Hitlers first live show in 6 years.
It will be an un-missable night of fun
and music.
Get your tickets early by booking
online. Head to the GIGS page
for more details and links. |

CLIPPED |
Man Bites God’s “The

on an award at the recent Faster Louder
Sunscreen Video Awards. However it was a

MBG would like to say thanks for all the
people who voted for their clip. The amazing
amount of support for the band was greatly
appreciated. |

DRY
SPIRITS |
During the holidays, an
angel visited Man Bites God and showed them
what life would have been like if they’d
never existed. It was pretty much the same,
except there was a tangible amount of “less
rock” in the world. This was enough
to convince the boys not to throw James
off the bridge, and keep making music for
another 100 years at least. |

DREAM
ON |
Man Bites God have written
the soundtrack to a new Channel 31 TV show
called Dream On. The show, produced by MBG’s
former manager Rachel Barnes, is all about
dreams, what they mean and the history and
mythology of dreaming.
Besides writing the show’s theme
song, MBG contribute a short song every
week dealing with a certain area of dreams
and dreaming. The segments have been recorded
with the boys playing live to camera in
the back yard of MBG HQ.
The half-hour show is on Channel 31 every
Monday at 9pm starting January 16th. There
will be seven episodes. The episodes will
be repeated on the following Saturdays at
8am. |

+ QMF = AOK |
Man Bites God played two
rocking sets for the beautiful people of
Queenscliff as part of the recent Queenscliff
Music Festival. Sunny days, big friendly
crowds and dancing children made the sets
great fun for the audience and band alike.
Man Bites God were also very flattered
to be voted the sound crew’s favourite
band of the Wharf Stage. Although the award
was entirely unofficial, it didn’t
stop the boys from attempting to run a victory
lap of Queenscliff before becoming so tired
they had to have a lie down. |

LAUNCH - SOUND AND VISION |
Man Bites God’s recent
CD launch for their new album “The

success, with lots of friends and fans coming
down to Melbourne’s Corner Hotel to
rock out wit the boys. Thanks must go to
the support acts Jane vs World, Nicholas
Roy and special guest, Deborah
Conway, as well as the fantastic sound
and lighting crew.
The whole show photographed and recorded
on DV. Also, SYN FM made an audio recording
of the entire set for broadcast, so sound
and vision from this great show will be
made available online soon. Man Bites God
recently caused a stir (and a little controversy)
by achieving the number 1 and 2 song positions
on SYN FM’s listener request Top 10
chart on the same day, with the tracks Cubby
House and Bride of the Dragon, from their
new album.
Tailors have told Man Bites God that if

THE
POPULAR ALTERNATIVE IS COMING |
Man Bites God have finished
tracking their new studio album, "The
Popular Alternative". Less produced
and Beatles-esque than their last effort,
the album has a much more organic feel.
Lyrically, the songs are angrier and more
satirical than their 2003 self-titled LP.
Overall, it sounds like the boys have come
and set up in your loungeroom, while you
curl up on the couch with a steaming mug
of drain cleaner.
The album features an impressive list of
Australian and international guests, and
promises to be the band's best release yet.

dates. |

NEW

MGG went back into the studio
for the first time in over a year to begin
work on their second full-length CD release.
There will be plenty of shiny new songs,
fun, rock, laughter and guests. The album,
with the tentative working title, “Tentative
Working Title” should be available
for release sometime in July this year.
Till then keep your ears peeled for news
and sneak previews on the website. |

TSUNAMI
RESERVE |
When Man Bites God were
approached to play a Tsunami appeal they
initially declined, questioning the need
to raise money for another Tsunami when
the last one had caused so much death and
damage. But when the organizers from Care
Australia slowly explained the actual premise,
MBG were only too happy to donate their
time.
The night, held at Ruby’s in Belgrave,
was a huge night, with an eclectic lineup
and a big crowd generously giving their
time and money. The night raised about $1000
and Man Bites God would like to thank the
organizers, acts and punters for such a
great evening. |

and a few new songs.
The boys will be ably supported by Rob
Clarkson from Ruck Rover and the debut of
The Weekend People (featuring Nick de Zilwa
and MBG's own Mark Woodward) It promises
to be a night of nights and a great way
to finish a fantastic year for Man Bites
God.
Doors open at 9pm. For more details head

PUTTING
THE FUN BACK INTO FUNERAL |
During a recent Man Bites God pool-side
afternoon gig in hot and sunny Echuca, the
event organizers received a phone-call of
complaint from the church next door.
It seems that Man Bites God's original
brand of satirical, and often blasphemous,
rock was disrupting a funeral service next
door. As the church called to complain,
MBG was playing The Pope Song.
The MBG boys didn't hear about the complaint
till
after the gig, and hope the bereaved friends
and
family weren't too offended. "I'd want
the Pope Song played at my funeral",
said James. "And at the Pope's obviously".
The Pope was unavailable to comment. Well,
he commented but no-one understood what
the fuck he was saying. |

EP 2 LP OK |
During pre-production
for their new studio EP, Man Bites God collected
so many songs they wanted to record that
they have decided, instead, to record a
full-length album. The as yet untitled CD
will feature never-before-recorded songs
from MBG's 5 years of satirical rocking
out.
There will also be a few surprise new tracks,
some of which will be performed at the upcoming
Empress and Corner Hotel shows. |

AUSTRALIA GETS ANGRY |
Man Bites God's
new Anger Management game has captured the
hearts, minds and trigger fingers of a disillusioned
nation, with an overwhelming response to
the chance to destroy the evil Prime Minister
John Howard.
The game has been forwarded to disgruntled
Aussies all over the world, uniting them
in a common spirit and making everyone entirely
more gruntled.
Since its release, this site has clocked
up over one million hits and, in light of
the recent US election result, Man Bites
God will soon be releasing an 'international'
version.

family , and refugees currently detained
in appalling conditions) visit the GAMES

NEW INTERNATIONAL
STUDIO EP |
Man Bites God
are stepping into the studio to record a
new EP, that will be available some time
in the future. The EP will include some
new recordings of songs featured on MBG's
recent UK tour as well as a collaboration
with New York hip-hop artist Matt Sax.
Matt (who was performing “Clay”,
a one-man hip-hop musical) and MBG shared
a venue in Edinburgh and became huge fans
of each others' work. Some parts have already
been recorded in the UK, with the remaining
tracking to be completed in both Melbourne
and New York, making this a truly international
EP. |

UK TOUR A HUGE SUCCESS |
Man Bites God
played 23 shows in 23 days at the obscenely
cool "Cabaret Voltaire", as part
of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The boys
had a great time and were very well received,
selling out of EPs and albums, playing sell-out
nights, and wooing the crowds with their
frenzied live shows. As a result, the boys
made many international friends and fans,
and have been approached to play tours in
the UK and USA in 2005. |

STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS
II |
MBG are once
again lending their time to raise money
for Amnesty International by performing
at Stand Up For Your Rights on October 9th
at Hamer Hall (formerly the Melbourne Concert
Hall) in the Victorian Arts Centre. The
stellar lineup includes Greg Fleet, Lano
and Woodley, Dave O'Neil. Rod Quantock,
Justin Hamilton and many more.
On election night, when we'll either be
celebrating or commiserating, why not do
it with the cream of Australian comedy?
Head to the GIGS section for more details. |

ULTRASOUNDS IS NO MORE |
While in the
UK, Man Bites God sold the last remaining
copies of their second EP "Ultrasounds".
The EP, released in late 2002, has enjoyed
healthy sales, rave reviews and now joins
the band's first EP, "Happy Songs"
in CD heaven.
Man Bites God sold their last copy of "Happy
Songs" last year; however, any punters
keen to get their hands on these early MBG
releases can purchase them through Chaosmusic.com.
The stock is extremely limited, and once
those copies are gone, that's it. |

music and comedy than you can poke a bunch
of sticks at.

MBG RECKON DEMOCRACY IS
GOOD |
In a Federal election year,
Man Bites God have written and recorded
a song designed to encourage young people
to vote. "No matter who you vote for,
it's important to be a part of the electoral
system of your country," commented
James. "Especially if you vote out
that fucker, Howard."
James was immediately surrounded by secret
police who used the artificial threat of
terrorism to imprison him for three days
without legal representation, and continue
to illegally rent DVDs using his his Blockbuster
Video card.
The demo recording of the song 'Stacey'
is available in the JUKEBOX. |

OZZY TO STAY IN MAN BITES
GOD |
Professionally confused
rock star, Ozzy Osborne, called a press
conference to alay fears that he was resigning
as Man Bites God's lead singer and front
man.
When somebody pointed out that Ozzy had
never been in the band, the bat-biting king
of reality TV mumbled something incomprehensible
and threw up on a potplant. |

Man Bites God have decided

song-making, and will be a distinctly dark
and edgy collection of material. For the

The boys promise that the wait will be worth
it, and hope to launch the album with gigs
in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.

EMPRESS GIG
|
It's now only a matter of days until Man
Bites God's headline gig at the Empress
and the final line-up details have been
announced.
The doors will open at 9pm and those in
attendance will be pleasured by the acoustic
brilliance of Hugh McGinlay, before the
sonic ecstasy of Boat (trio) and then the
symphony of rock that is Man Bites God.

MBG HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL
|
Man Bites God recently rounded off the
line-up at the first ever Luther College
comedy night.
The night was organised by two students,
Danny and Pete, for a communication project
and was held in the school's chapel.
The night raised $500 for the SHARE
APPEAL and bewilderingly, Man Bites
God had their photo taken for the Uniting
Church Newsletter.
Congratulations and thanks to both Danny
and Paul for a fantastic night.

ANNOYING VIDEO
|
The long awaited video clip for 'The Annoying
Song' is a step closer to completion, with
the final shots recorded last week.
The shoot went very smoothly, although Mark
refused to take off his top, stating he
"wouldn't care even if it was going to be
tasteful and artistically justified."
The clip features footage from recent tours
of Sydney and Adelaide.

COMEDY FESTIVAL WRAP-UP
|
Man Bites God would like to thank everyone
who made it down to the Pony and squeezed
in to see The Money Shot. The band battled
recurring illnesses and came out on top
with all four of their shows selling out.
Man Bites God used a couple of the shows
to debut the song 'Access', a result of
the recent collaboration with comedian Bob
Franklin.
Man Bites God would like to thank Estelle
Cleaver (for her performance), the staff
at Pony, Mike (the security guy), Dan (the
sound guy) and everyone at the Comedy Festival.

SAVE THE EMPRESS
|
The Empress Of India Hotel in North Fitzroy
may be forced to close its doors soon due
to noise complaints from some new, narrow-minded,
rich residents of the area. This fantastic
live venue hosted early performances by
Paul Dempsey (Something For Kate), silverchair
and the Dirty Three to name a few. And it
continues to support and nurture local bands.
Man Bites God are headlining at the Empress
on Saturday May 10th. We urge everyone to
come on down and support this amazing venue.
More details about the show and the other
bands on the bill will be made available
soon.
There is a petition circulating to help
save Melbourne's music venues from unreasonable
complaints - download a copy here
and get as many people to sign it as possible
(VIC residents only). MBG will also have
copies at their upcoming gigs.

MBG UNIVERSITY PROTEST
GIGS
|
MBG continued their University shows with
an appearance at Rock Against the Review
at RMIT City on Thursday April 10th. The
gig was to protest the Nelson Report's proposed
changes to the University System, and also
featured Pink Elephant Parade.
Man Bites God recently played a lunchtime
gig at RMIT Bundoora as part of an anti-war
rally. The beautiful weather and large crowd
made the gig a memorable one and when Chris
asked the crowd to give peace a chance,
everybody seemed to think that was a pretty
good idea.

MBG LEARN TO READ
|
Man Bites God contributed a 10 minute play
to Sydney's recent "The Big Laugh" Festival.
It was performed as part of "Pieces of Play"
which was staged by past and present students
of the University of Western Sydney's School
of Contemporary Arts, and produced by AT
Enterntainment.
Heartened by the play's reception, MBG feel
they have mastered nouns and verbs, and
will attempt to use adjectives in their
next stage work.

MARK HIT BY CAR
|
After a radio interview at Sydney's 2RRR
recorder-boy Mark Woodward hit his head
on the edge of the car door, causing a minor
laceration and some blood loss. He was lucky
to escape the need for stitches, unlike
Chris and James, who were in stitches all
the way home.

SECRET CELEBRITY ALBUM
APPEARANCES
|
Man Bites God are still busy in the studio
working on their debut album. While the
recording sessions are shrouded in secrecy,
we can report that a number of guest artists
from both the music and comedy worlds will
be appearing on the release. These people's
identities are also shrouded in secrecy,
except for one celebrity who, due to an
email typo, ended up shrouded in celery.

THE OTHER RECORDER BOY
|
Whilst playing at Enmore Theatre in Sydney
with comedian Mikey Robins, Robins made
off with Marks recorder and performed the
Elvis classic "Love Me Tender" using only
one nostril to the amazement of the crowded
auditorium.
It is well known that there are many artistic
and cultural differences between Melbourne
and Sydney, but this nasal performance technique
came as quite a shock, especially to Mark
who had to use his recorder the "traditional
mouth way" only a few minutes later.

MAN BITES GOD MOURN THE
PAT
|
The home of Melbourne comedy, and the place
where MBG launched their two EPs, the Prince
Patrick Hotel, closed its doors forever
recently. Owners Chris and John will be
missed by all the musicians and comedians
who played there over the years.
There was a final star-studded Comedy Night
on Saturday 1st February followed by dancing
till dawn. MBG were very flattered to note
that some of their songs were played during
the post-show festivities, and they even
got to DJ a little themselves towards the
end of the night.
Man Bites God may have only been a recent
addition to the hundreds of performers who
have graced the Prince Patrick over the
years, but it felt like home. That was its
strength as a venue.

MBG MARCH FOR PEACE

MBG will lend their support to the Melbourne
March for Peace Rally. Although it should
be stated that Man Bites God firmly believe
that peace should be all year round, not
just March. Actually, perhaps that shouldn't
be stated.
