In the last year Man Bites God have recorded their third studio album, “Peppermint Superfrog”, re-released their entire back catalogue onto iTunes, supported the Whitlams, released their latest video clip “Cubby House” on RAGE and prepared themselves for another national tour in support of their new album. They are now officially unstoppable.

the band
Man Bites God are a Melbourne band who play upbeat rock-pop. Acoustic guitar, bass and a stand up drumkit make Man Bites God a fun busker-rock outfit. Their lyrics are funny, dark, weird and occasionally a bit filthy, but their melodies, harmonies and arrangements are sweet and catchy. They are a fiercely original combo who are committed to writing the kind of cool intelligent music that seems to be lacking in today’s mainstream.

live shows

Man Bites God’s frenetic and fun live shows have won the band popular and critical acclaim, whether touring the pubs, clubs, universities and festival circuits of Australia or performing sell-out gigs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In 2005 Man Bites God undertook a national tour to promote their album, The Popular Alternative. The tour was a great success, culminating in a CD launch show at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, featuring a guest performance by Deborah Conway.

In 2006 Man Bites God returned to the Adelaide Fringe Festival to play a series of critically acclaimed shows, and were then invited to support The Whitlams. The band spent the late part of 2006 recording their new album, “Peppermint Superfrog”.

Over the years, Man Bites God have played shows at many great Australian venues, including Hamer Hall, the Enmore Theatre, the Regal Tent, the Corner Hotel, the Espy, the Empress, the Sando, the Prince Patrick Hotel, the Comedy Theatre and many others.

They have shared the bill with diverse bands such as Mental as Anything, Vika & Linda Bull, Phil Ceberano, Dan Brodie, Sophie Koh, Deborah Conway, The Whitlams, Jane vs World and many others. In 2004 they were invited to sing Down Under with Colin Hay in Edinburgh and they were the unofficial favourite band of the sound crew at the Queenscliff Music Festival.

the recordings
Man Bites God have released three studio LP’s: Peppermint Superfrog (2007), The Popular Alternative (2005) and Man Bites God (2003). They have also released 3 EP’s: Happy Songs (2002), Ultrasounds (2002) and Boob-job for Sweetie Pie (2005).

"endearing and harmonious... lunatic lyrics and melodic absurdity works well and will undoubtedly give rise to other acts singing from the same hymn sheet... covering a range of styles from barbershop through rock, folk and funk, the songs would have Spinal Tap in a spin... these Melbourne lads can play with more talent than many chart toppers"
The Scotsman

"Their music is a smorgasbord of styles and has lyrics that lurk in dark satirical places…
intellectually crafted songs… Man Bites God packs an irreverent punch."

The Age

“infectious rock melodies & a '60s boy-band bent”

Adelaide Advertiser

"Man Bites God are the pinnacle of a twisted sense of humour."
Undercover

“gorgeous harmonisation... boyish charm... they've got the right mix"
ThreeWeeks (UK)
